Dave and Chantel, Cumberland Forest Elopement
Dave and Chantal quietly said “I do” on a Tuesday afternoon. Chantal looked stunning. With some nerves and excitement, she made the quiet walk up to join the very cheerful Dave at the top of Devil’s Ladder to exchange vows. The marriage commissioner Craig Gillis, myself and one guest all knew we were part of a very magical moment.
Maggie and Jordan, Port McNeil Wedding
Watching the bond between them and their people was a highlight of the wedding day for me. The moms could not stop smiling at each other, friends were giving each other knowing looks, and the hugs were flowing freely. The wedding party was so kind, gushing with their love for these two. They were constantly checking in with me and my assistant Sara to see if we needed anything – truly the most thoughtful, not to mention hilarious, bunch
Kirstin and Joe, Tigh-Na-Mara Wedding
They were set to celebrate this love with a big wedding. However, due to the pandemic. They cancelled, paused and then regrouped. Then plans, as the pandemic rules changed, morphed again. Yet, here we were, at the stunning Tigh-Na-Mara Resort in Parksville, watching them say their vows.
With So Much Appreciation
Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours. Thank you for the connection we have. Now, off to cook. I didn't grow up with Thanksgiving, and the preparation, for me, is as wonderful as the feast. We won't have the usual group of family here, it will be our small family, but we will eat well, drink wine, and toast the land we are grateful to live on and our community ❤.
Christine and Greg, Campbell River Micro Wedding
They set up in their living room. Friends from all over zoomed in and a small group of family set up outside. The zooming guests had a clear perspective and for the locals, the audio was being piped outside and guests were able to see them through a glass window -the ceremony was the epitome of classy and resourceful. An amazing example of what is possible.
Jacquie and Paul Forbidden Plateau Wedding
Before their afternoon ceremony, we headed above the clouds to a peak overlooking Comox Lake. After photos, we joined back with the guests, where the charming Barbara Densmore oversaw an emotional flower ceremony. She shared some words from the bride and groom about each person and then handed them flowers. These flowers were passed to the bride as she came in, and formed a very meaningful bouquet.
Katia and Michael, Merville Elopement
.You wrap up a two day hike, you head to a quiet B&B with your love, your daughter, your dog and four friends. You exchange vows and it means the world. It is perfection. You celebrate with pizza, storytelling, music, laughing and nature.
A Celebration for a Superhero
Today the community came together to celebrate superhero Chase, who has Leukemia and his sidekicks, his mom and dad and his siblings (and we all know how important the superhero sidekick is -right?). There was an endless stream of cars, including RCMP and Comox Valley Fire. There was a military flyover by 19-Wing and a helicopter.
Our “Was Wedding” Love bombed during Covid
Today is April 10th, is our “WAS-WEDDING” Today we were supposed to be getting married. We should be mid-ceremony right now. But now, we have a different beautiful memory.
We realized early March that our plans were in jeopardy and emotionally adjusted. It was about perspective. We shifted our focus to being thankful that we have each other.
Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation
For the second time, I joined the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation to capture portraits and moments of the difference makers and the patients under their care. It is always an inspiring project. Initially, there is some fear as to if the patients will allow us to photograph them. Each time though, our requests are met with enthusiasm – most people share that same sense of appreciation I carry and are honored to share their story.
Didi and Roman, Mount Washington Winter Wedding
These two were planning a Mexico wedding, however, when the pandemic hit, they decided they couldn’t put off being married until they were able to travel. So this Qualicum couple, dressed in all black, surrounded by white snow, barely contained their giggles as they exchanged their vows.
Kara and Terry, Married with Kingfisher Lights
Kara and Terry met ten years ago while tree planting. The plans for a wedding emerged organically as daydreams about parties n that would bring their families together shifted into the idea of exchanging ovows. On a brisk December day, along with their family and a few close friends, t
Erin and Gil-Philippe Shelter Point, Campbell River Wedding
After some photos in the fog, the couple headed inside for snacks, whisky-tasting and of course, their wedding ceremony. The ceremony was filled with warmth, emotion and full of joy. Afterward, the duo, who met in swing classes, hit the floor and showed us how it is done.
Emma and Dustin, A Celebrity Wedding
They arrived to each other in such a beautifully natural way. With a love sitting on years of friendship, shared values and creativity, they now have their right person to move forward with. So celebrating this day was a gift. I was able to watch, (and when you watch you learn) their kindness to each other in their planning, and how they stayed rooted in what was important to them.
Craig and Caroline, Qualicum Bay Wedding
When I finally met Craig and Caroline in person, I quickly became smitten. As we talked wedding, life, career, music and more, they hung onto each other’s words, laughed and were kind to one another – their connection radiated.
Daneille and Curtis, Mount Washington Wedding
Curtis and Danielle were neighbors when they met, and through helping each other out, a shared volleyball team and then a date that involved too spicy chili (awkward) and learning new card games, they began their romantic connection. Just a few weeks later, they became inseparable.
Artists Nicolette Valikowski - Comox Valley Brand Photography
I was full of anticipation for our session and when I walked in to our shoot I was even almost overwhelmed, and needed a bit of time to take in her beautiful studio space and her vibrant work before I picked up the camera.
Pandemic Wedding Planning on Vancouver Island
BC offers some stunning backdrops to bask in nature and exchange vows. A few of my couples are working with 49 North Helicopter and heading to mountain vistas while other are sneaking into the woods for some quite romance.
Lindsay & Mike, Strathcona Resort Wedding
Held at the stunning Strathcona Park Lodge, this celebration saw friends from each side of Canada’s coast gather for a weekend of west coast wonder. People started rolling into the lodge the night before the wedding and gathered for beers, bonfires and pitching in to help set up
Celebrating Grad 2020
This year, we won’t have the opportunity to celebrate our high school grads in the traditional way. I am a mom of a 2020 Grad and I am heartbroken for them. So we created a specially priced session for the Grad Class of 2020.
