Our “Was Wedding” Love bombed during Covid

The story:
We have some good news to share. Today is April 10th, is our “WAS-WEDDING” Today we were supposed to be getting married. We should be mid-ceremony right now. But now, we have different beautiful memory.
We realized early March that our plans were in jeopardy and emotionally adjusted. It was about perspective.We shifted our focus to being thankful that we have each other. Can you imagine if it was just me and a 17 year old quarantine in the house (kidding, not kidding) and if Thomas was living alone? But that is not our truth. Our reality is that the three of us are home, together, safely. That is the beautiful bottom line. On top of that privilege, the three of us share what we consider to be our excellent sense of humour, a house with harmony and kindness, shared interest and a great event to look forward to.
Thomas and I spent a long time looking for each other. Just like our relationship, our wedding plans, which we have been quiet about, came together magically. Cousins from the US? Family from Eastern Canada? Our dream photographers? Two Mann Photography
We planned a wedding where I would probably cry a lot (no shocker) and then everyone would dance and party. It was going to be steeped in meaning, filled with personality and focused on laughter- something we felt deeply about sharing with our greatest assets, our dear friends and family. A celebration was overdue.
Today has been a weird day. We decided we wouldn’t force any token celebration or reflection. As it turns out we were both quite solitary and quiet today – probably being cautious with our emotions, we were sad. Until this happened.
The music (including a sound system), the honking, the dancing, the outfits the love – loud, loud love.
We were, and still are overcome with emotion from our friends unexpectedly filling our street and spoiling us with love and care. Thomas said it best, smiling “this is unlike anything I have ever felt before.”
After our friends left, we looked at each other, and knew something in us shifted. We feel a little closer to marriage and less grief about the was-wedding and more excited about the will-be-wedding. This crazy group of friends of ours, you lifted a heaviness we have been feeling. You changed our story. This day will always be one of joy for us now. It was so hard not to hug the heck out of you all! You are beautiful and we are so fortunate that you gave us an incredible memory today.
We are smiling. Love rules.
