Lindsay & Mike, Strathcona Resort Wedding
When Mike and Lindsay asked me to be their wedding photographer I was thrilled. See, Mike and Lindsay are just the type of people that you like; yes, they are just likeable. Of course, they are more than that, but they have that energy that is just easy to be around. Add funny, down-to-earth, wise and accepting to the list. That is who they are. Their wedding was a beautiful reflection of them.
Held at the stunning Strathcona Park Lodge, this celebration saw friends from each side of Canada’s coast gather for a weekend of west coast wonder. People started rolling into the lodge the night before the wedding and gathered for beers, bonfires and pitching in to help set up. The next morning, there was more socializing over breakfast and then people, including the bride and groom, headed out to enjoy some canoeing and hiking. As the time to start thinking about the ceremony approached, the groom snuck off for laughs and getting ready with the men as the bride and her friends worked on each other’s hair and makeup. Then effortlessly, Lindsay slipped into her dress and headed out to the ceremony. It wasn’t just any arrival though. This wonder of a bride strolled toward the Strathcona dock under increasing rain, then hopped in a canoe and arrived at the shore looking composed and content.
The wind blew and the rain came down hard. Epically hard. No really, it was epic. But what had my attention was the way Mike and Lindsay stood in front of their dear friends and family and exchanged vows, they were present and had an air of togetherness. I don’t think a rainstorm stands a chance against these two. After drying off and toasting their marriage, we squeezed in a few photos and I have to say, I am so thankful that this day was shared with these two and their hearty, funny, friends and family – I very much appreciated their awesome attitudes and their great collection of umbrellas.
Lindsay and Mike, your wedding is one to never forget. Not because of the rain (well, okay, maybe a bit) but because of the grace you two have walked with from the planning the party. Thank you so much for sharing yourselves with me.
