Their story: It started 14 years ago when they connected through a mutual friend, but it took seven years after that, and urging by that same friend, for them to start dating. After their first date, they both knew it was something deeply special.

Deciding to get married was something that came along naturally. These two have been incredibly busy raising their magical daughter and building their business - Rusted Rake Farm. If you are from Nanoose or the neighbouring community of Nanaimo, chances are you have experienced Rusted Rake Farm. It is a well-loved restaurant respected for its food and kindness. Jodie and Will were in the middle of expanding Rusted Rake to include a brewery when Covid came along.

Thanks to Covid, they started doing family FaceTimes every week with family, many of whom do not live in the area. The family started talking about planning a family reunion and Jodie and Will decided to throw their wedding into the mix.
The magical part is they would be the first couple to get married at Rusted Rake Farm, which they will be opening in the future as a wedding facility in addition to the brewery.

The setting is stunning and even more impressive is how much heart and work went into creating the space. The ceremony location is nestled next to a pond, with a super cool tin bar and the perfect spot for a dinner overlooking the pond.

Jodie and Will’s wedding felt like a family reunion, and I adored that about it. A close friend married them, the kids ran happily wild, playing on the trampoline and spontaneously collecting donations for charity, the adults relaxed with mojitos moving leisurely between circles of conversation. It was genuine, relaxed and memorable. Perfection.

Jodie and Will I am in awe of all that you have done and how you put this celebration while staying focused on having time with friends and family. You have created a magical spot. I imagine you sitting back taking it in, watching other couples say I-do while remembering your vows and the beautiful evening you created for your friends and family.
