Logan, Comox Valley Grad 2021

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐧 - 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏

Logan is McKinnon Photography royalty, by way of his lineage. His parents, Natalie and Jeremy were one of my first clients when I was a newbie photographer who had just landed here from the mainland. They hired me for their engagement session and wedding and I subsequently have photographed their path, including portraits, commercial photography and family weddings. Other than feeling old, it was a joy to spend time with Logan. Yes, he is graduating but truly Logan has been an adult for years. It is in his nature to make rad decisions (his favorite meal is salad) and his life as a hockey player required drive, focus and living separate from his family at times. Logan, photographing you was a JOY, and I appreciated your kindness, good sense of humour and that you didn’t make fun of me for my lack of hockey knowledge.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫?

The biggest surprise for me this year was to actually get the opportunity to play hockey and to have a 20 game pod season in Port Alberni.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫?

Having to complete grade 12 in three different schools and billet homes in 3 different cities on the island has definitely been a challenge. As was only being able to practice hockey for almost 6 months without the intensity and pace of games. It was difficult to keep my head in it and keep a practice pace like it’s a game.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐨?

Summer with friends before we all go our separate way and next year's hockey season. Playing Jr. A hockey in front of fans and hopefully getting a full season in. My goal is to be able to play for a University team in the USA next fall.
