Diana and Jen, Island Winery Wedding

Who: Jen and Diana

Their story: Jen and Diana first crossed paths on the hockey rink. Diana’s easy laughter left an impression on Jen, but Jen was too shy to talk to her. They were introduced years later, through a good friend who thought they would make good golf buddies, but, nothing came of the introduction.

About a year later, Jen, who is an RCMP officer was called to a break and enter at a local business, and when she arrived there was Jen, who had accidentally set of the alarm. It was a very happy accident though as they both, despite playing it cool, did a little flirting (it is still debatable who flirted with who) and finally planned that golf came. The game was very memorable and was the beginning of building a life together. Two years ago, on a beach in Tofino, Diana proposed on the beach. They started planning their wedding, two years ago and knew quickly that 40 Knots would be the ideal place for their celebration. Of course, they loved the wine (who doesn’t?) however they quickly formed a bond with the team at 40 Knots and their other vendors. I was fortunate to be one of them. This connection grew as we all navigated the unknowns and rescheduled dates during Covid.
However, their day ended up coming together just as planned. It was a casual, laid-back affair that felt like we were in a living room full of their favourite people - including those that were able to travel from Nova Scotia to be with them.
Diana and Jen, I know we are all so happy that you had the day you envisioned. Seeing you two surrounded by your kind (and funny) friends and family was a highlight of my summer.

The details: Diana and Jen were married at the stunning 40 Knots Winery by Jennifer Lee, Celebrant and Officiant, with music (both live and DJ’ing) by the talented Rob Bowker from Vancouver Island Audio and an awesome taco bar courtesy of The Pickled Carrot Catering Company.
