Genie and Andy, Halloween Beach Wedding

Who: Genie & Andy

Their story: I tried to share an album of these images on social media, and I can only share a maximum of 10. Ummm how? So here you are, a mega blog post. I am breaking all the blog rules about not showing too many photos and not mixing vertical and horizontal (yawn…). This year is full of new regulations, right? Weddings have rules now. Today as I type, my professional wedding friends in the Fraser Valley and Vancouver are working with their couples to adjust to yesterday’s new provincial pandemic rules. That words “with” is what my wedding season has been about, being “with people.” In a time where we can’t be with people, I feel more connected to my clients, and I see my couples more connected to each other. I also see them looking at their guests with more love, and I see guests genuinely taking in the privilege and joy of witnessing love. This is good stuff. It is love in action.

Celebrating with Andy and Genie was perfection. After their date and plans were bounced around, they settled on a perfect date for their Halloween loving family. Things came together only a month before, and they fell into place perfectly. The sun was shining, and everyone dressed up. The smiles were broad and tears sincere.

Genie and Andy knew each other in high school, and two years ago, a chance meeting in a parking lot brought them back together. As I saw how they honor each other with care, attention and honesty, like many guests (including the candy girl, aka flower girl), I was moved to tears by this union.

This is a beautiful love story, rich with goodness, acceptance, joy, happiness and creativity. It was indeed an honor to capture it and I want to share it all – so here is a blog post too many photos.

The details: Dress from The Bride’s Closet, Ceremony at Kitty Coleman Beach, makeup, hair and flowers by the bride and family and friends.
